San Luis Obispo, Ca. — Two sports-oriented apparel companies have joined hands to introduce a new line of eyewear that enhances vision during golf outings and throughout the day. Straight Down Clothing Co. and Dioptics have finalized the eyewear that was introduced Jan. 17-19 at the 55th annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Shipping of the four models – Crosby, Bishop, Sinatra and Martin – begins in March.

The sunglasses are designed to let enough light in so they can be worn while you are putting, enabling you to see the contours on the greens and fairway better than with conventional sunglasses. They are also made to fit on a golf cap when not in use and feature adjustable nosepieces for a perfect fit. The product is designed to provide better visual definition so golfers can play their best game possible.

Simply put, the Straight Down line of sunglasses helps golfers play their best by providing superior, high definition, vision.

We wondered why so few golfers wore sunglasses. After some analysis we determined that the reason was that current sunglasses didn’t provide enough visual acuity or definition to allow golfers to see better when playing golf. In effect, most sunglasses degraded their vision and were not seen as a true golf aid. Given these insights and business strengths, Mike and Henry decided to co-develop a product line to truly benefit golfers of all skill levels. There was an opportunity to provide a more effective eyewear for golfers. We believe we have landed on a new lens and frame technology. The new Straight Down product offers two lens options.

The “golden green” maximizes definition and clarity of the ball against the grass; improving reading the subtle contours of the greens by highlighting shadows and undulations in the green surface; blocks out blue light to reduce eye fatigue and promote long-term use and provides ideal tint for all light conditions.

The “copper rose” lens brightens details while boosting depth perception improving visibility for activity requiring precision. It blocks out the harsh blues, allowing more warmer colors – reduces eye fatigue and is ideal in all light conditions — optimal in flat-light condition.

The eyewear line has sport styling with a superior fit, which includes a spring hinge to hug the head comfortably, adjustable temples and an adjustable nosepiece for a custom fit for the nose bridge area.
